Group Chief Executive Officer of Kingdom Exim Group, James Rajamani, has been sworn into office as the new chairman and chief chancellor of the India-Africa Trade Council.
The idea of the India-Africa Trade Council (IATC) first occurred in early 2020, conceptualized by the advent of Covid-19, leading to its formation in consultation with the various heads of trade bodies in Africa and professionals from the Indo-African region.
In his brief remarks, the new chairman pledges the IATC’s commitment to deepening business relations between the two continents.
Mr. Rajamani says, his tenure will see enhanced stakeholder engagements aimed at tackling the various bottlenecks to effective Indo-Africa trade.
“According to the chief chancellor, IAFC will foster strong working relations with foreign missions and partners to enable us to eradicate trade deficiencies by leveraging on this multi-level advocacy to help open up trade across both continents”
Mr. Rajamani urges all member states, to lend their support in thought, action, and spirit, bearing in mind that their common aim is to attain excellence in the trade.
He thanks the Director and members of IATC for the confidence reposed in him, saying he would offer faithful and diligent service to the Council.
Namibia Ambassador to Ghana, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, in her remarks says that the IATC initiative is the building block for Africa to become relevant in the global economy.
“For Africa to industrialize and promote value addition to our raw products to create jobs that will keep our youth at home, it is up to captains of industry in Africa to make the African dream a reality.
The IATC engages business in India and African countries with unparalleled access to industry-specific trade data, business introductions, networking opportunities, education, investment opportunities, documentation, and trade license.
