German trade and development agency, GIZ, rolls out several actions aimed at simplifying the processes of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to its targeted beneficiaries.
“We are supporting the AfCFTA and various stakeholders like the AGI and GEA; we are also supporting the facilitation of trade processes for exports.
“We currently have a team in WA sensitizing young entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises trying to simplify what the AfCFTA means for them,” James Amissah Hammond, Advisor—Programmes Support to the AfCFTA, GIZ, as a panelist at the 4th Ghana Industrial and Summit and Exhibition in Accra says.
Senior Advisor to the Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, Peter Joy Sewornu, another panelist, urges the Ghanaian private sector to be familiar with the schedules on the various sectors of trade in the AfCFTA protocols.
He says Ghana, as a developing country, has a relatively shorter period to liberalize its tariffs compared to other nations that are considered to be least developed.
The panel encourages small and medium enterprises to approach the Ghana Enterprises Agency to access the right support that could help them to harness the opportunities in the single continental market.
