The AfCFTA Secretariat organizes a high-level workshop to examine the challenges of the Abidjan-Lagos trade corridor and to proffer the right recommendations and roadmap to facilitate efficient trading along the route.
The Togolese government was in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and brought together senior government and Customs officials from Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Ghana and Togo as well as representatives from organized private trade associations, shippers’ councils, civil society groups and development partners.
Technical meetings held as part of the workshop highlighted experiences focused on trade facilitation and customs reforms.
“The success of this region is the success of Africa; boosting intra-Africa trade requires that each region must be prepared and integrated into the greater supply chain of the continent,” Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, Wamkele Mene, said at the meeting.
